Spring Trunk Sale! March 20-24th. Get Ready.

We know how much you love it, so we’re doing it again!

Workshop’s always fun and crazy SPRING TRUNK SALE will be happening March 20-24th this year!

The big opening party will be on Thursday March 20th at 6pm where there is sure to be the best of deals, some fun goodies for munchin’, and me at the change rooms acting as the evening drill sergeant…I know you ladies love it! (-;

The fun doesn’t end there though, because we’ve decided to officially hold the sale over for the whole weekend – this is for those of you who give us those sad puppy dog faces when you can’t make it the night of the event. But don’t forget that after Sunday at 5pm, everything magically turns in to a pumpkin (goes back to the designers), so don’t miss it!

For those of you who are new to the cult of the trunk sale, here are the basics: once in the Spring and once in the Fall Workshop invites a few of their favourite designers to participate in our trunk sale: they ship us tons and tons of great clothes, accessories and jewelry which are from past seasons collections, slightly damaged items, weird sizes (the xs people clean up at this event!), samples, etc! Our designers get to clean out their studio spaces and our customers get to pad their closets!  the deals are great – up to 70% off!

More details and sneak peeks can be found on our facebook page!

Put it in your calendar and don’t forget to join us – especially if you haven’t yet been down to check out our newly renovated space (yellow)!

Putting the Workshop back into Workshop

Those of you who have been with us since the beginning of the crazy and fabulous journey we like to call shop ownership will remember back in 2005 when half of our shop was a functioning studio space where we would sew and knit and stay (relatively) trouble-free…

At some point, our little shop needed to grow so we moved our studios back into our homes, but we have often looked back nostalgically at those old days and this year, we’ve decided to go back to our roots!

So…the big reveal: We will be closing Workshop between January 20th – 31st to put on old jeans, turn up the music and take up hammers and drills to renovate our little baby (who is now almost 9 years old…eek!) and turn 1/3 of the shop space into a fully functional studio, complete with sewing table and silkscreening lab!  We plan to use this space to bring you our own in-house collection. Excited?? Us too.

So – it will be the best of both worlds: the same great made-in-Canada shop you’ve always known and loved PLUS a fun and bright (spoiler alert: yellow is the new turquoise!) studio space where we can make pretty things. (-:

Plan to come down to the Market and visit our new project on Saturday, Feb 1st, when we re-open. We can’t wait to share it with you!

Our Night Owl is Famous!

You may have seen our night owl before…you know: walking the red carpet, noshing on sushi at Nobu, hanging with pals Brad and Angelina…yes, our night owl is famous! (the one in the middle, the other two are his very cute hangers-on)

Thanks Ottawa Citizen, for including our night owl in your Marketplace: Cocooning from The Cold article last week!

Workshop Window Makeover!

Well, it only took us 6 years but we have finally put some cute vinyl lettering in the front windows of Workshop! kudos to christina for a job well done!  check it out:

Guest Designer Visits Workshop!

melissa at workshop with her little one!

what a great tuesday!

yesterday the lovely ladies of workshop had our first ever visit from Melissa Bolduc, one of our absolute favourite designers!  Melissa’s collection, which i am actually wearing right now (seriously), is lovely and fun!  no bold prints for melissa, the cuts and design of her pieces can stand on their own.  we have been carrying melissa’s collection for over 3 years now and each season is just simply more amazing than the last – i am not ashamed to admit that half my closet is filled with her pieces!

double treat: she also brought in her lovely little munchkin!  congrats to you melissa – and to mothers everywhere who are able to combine business with motherhood – we applaud you and hope to see you again soon!
