Hello Everyone!
After the huge success of last year’s “Great Crafting De-Stash” we have decided to do it again…and with more time for our crafters to prepare this time around!
** What is a De-stash? **
A de-stash is when crafters go into their studios, basements, closets and other storage spaces and clear out crafting supplies that they don’t expect to use in the near future. Then, they sell them for super cheap to clear their crafting clutter (we all have it!) and make way for newer better supplies! A good de-stash is like a great day at a craft-only value village (wish there was such a thing!) – and superb recycling! Your old buttons may be just what another crafter is looking for! (-: **
THE GREAT CRAFTING DE-STASH will take place in the gallery space at Flock Boutique from November 3rd – 11th. We are inviting about 30 of our designers/crafters to participate but we are also looking for other crafters ready and willing to part with their vast stashes, so please contact us at info@flockboutique.ca if you would like to participate!

katrina, one of the lovely writers of LTO, Local Tourist Ottawa, one of my favourite blogs, wrote a great piece about our de-stash! here’s an exerpt:
Does Remai have any advice for the craft junkie searching for that perfect button or bead? Hint: There’s no need for elbows! “Bring time,” she advises. “There are probably a hundred bags of beads I’ve put into inventory already and every single one is different so you’re gonna wanna take time and look through the Ziploc and take a look and see what you actually want.”

the lovely ladies of flock spent much of the last week tagging, rolling, bagging and pricing fabric, tools, beads, boxes, crafting books, paper…the list goes on! the big de-stash event (see earlier posts) starts tomorrow and is the ultimate place to shop for great deals on crafting supplies, courtesy of about 20 of flock boutique’s designers and friends! don’t miss it!

oh, what a day! i spent yesterday wading through the huge pile of de-stash items our designers have been dropping off…and what an event the de-stash is going to be! sooo exciting!
in fact, the way i look at it, it’s a good thing that i’m de-stashing my studio. you know, to make room for all of the new goodies i’m going to acquire! (-;

i’ll be the first to admit that i’m a bit of a pack-rat. i always saw it as a unique trait that showed just how crazy and creative i was (both valued qualities in my mind). i was one of those people who could use any material, any recycling…basically any old scrap of anything…to create something beautiful. my ability to do this was often applauded (mostly by my mother, i realize now), but since i got married and bought a house (teeny tiny house), the overflow of stuff from my studio had begun to be a sore point. mostly for my husband. and sometimes even for me (this morning i tripped over a 4×6 foot canvas on my way to the bathroom).
after polling a few people, i realized that this was a problem faced by every artist/designer i knew, so i made a decision: this year FALL is going to be the new SPRING…as in SPRING CLEANING our studios!
and so the great crafting de-stash was born!
from Nov 1st-14th, the gallery space at Flock will be full of crafting supplies for sale, the result of de-cluttering by over 20 of our designers! there will be all kinds of things up for grabs…beads, tools, fabric, paint, dyes, yarn, bags, buttons, findings, ink…and everything will be priced so you wouldn’t dare think of leaving it on the shelf! (-:
it’s a classic win-win: help our designers clean out their studios, and end up with designer quality crafting goodies at ridiculous prices – mark the date on your calendar, and prepare to hunt – you never know what you might find!
