The Ladies of Flock do First Aid!

bright and early yesterday morning christina, laura and i hit the open road and headed out to the Ottawa Paramedics Headquarters to be trained in first aid and c.p.r. and the class was absolutely fantastic!  our instructor, the lovely Sandy with a Y, taught us all kinds of interesting and useful things punctuated by slightly gruesome stories which had the definite effect of driving home the seriousness of what we were learning.  we also had a quite a bit of fun…check out the pics!

Time & Textures

many of you know laura as the lovely lady of flock boutique – always there to tell you about a designer or to help you find a fabulous dress for a special occasion!  some of you may also know that she is a very talented weaver.  this is the first time, however, that we have had the pleasure of showcasing a series of laura’s photographs, so you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to check it out!  laura’s collection of photographs and weaving is in flock’s gallery space until July 1st.  the gallery is open during regular shop hours, so come along and take a peek!  congrats on a great show, laura!

Follow us on Twitter!

christina and i both think we’re pretty funny and now that we’ve discovered twitter, each of you has an opportunity to laugh with (or at) us too!

to follow flock:  flock_boutique

to follow workshop:  ws_boutique

but seriously, we will be posting new stuff we get in, funny things that happen at the shop, links to classes, parties, etc…be the first to know, join us!  plus, my ego really wants 100 followers…

Mother’s Day is Magnificent!

as we are a bit older and there are now more than a few mothers among the workshop and flock staff, we wanted to do something very special in recognition of those of you who take on the challenging task of motherhood!  we decided to make some fab little pins and attach them to a 10% off coupon that you can keep (feel free – you deserve it!), or give away to your mother or any other mother-like person in your life who deserves a bit of recognition.  we had a guest helper giving the pins away at flock on mother’s day…the pint-sizer took her job very seriously and refused to leave until her basket was empty!  well done little one!

if for some reason you weren’t able to make it on the weekend and would like to get in on the action, please stop by flock or workshop and claim your pin, we still have a few left!

happy mother’s day to all of the ladies out there who taught us how to sew, knit and glue.

the ladies of workshop and flock

flock is looking very lovely these days…

kudos to the amazing and wonderful erin, who has taken it upon herself to make our customers (and us!) swoon at the very sight of her fantastic displays! she is combing through workshop and flock leaving behind her little trails of loveliness…thanks erin!

It’s my Party…

flag banner

Last night my 3 year old and her little 3 year old friend carlo hosted a 35th birthday party for her auntie april (seriously)! not surprisingly, the hit of the party was the lovely fabric banner we bought at Flock, handmade by ottawa’s own katie dutton. lovely katie!

the big road trip!

so christina and i picked up and headed to toronto last thursday in her dad’s fancy new shiny blue bullet like matrix (thanks dick!) to go and hang with our designers at the one of a kind show!

i could fill pages with trip details (like when we almost ran out of gas and ended up hitching to brockville with 40 pairs of candi factory undies and a box of eikcam ceramics) but instead i’ll just tell you all of the lovely goodies that we saw (and bought)!

jenn-portrait

jennifer glasgow, lovely as ever and in desperate need of a pee break (those shows sure can be long!), was wearing her new jersey dress – super cute, kelly green, with huge pockets and a tree print…undeniably the pick of summer! we should be getting them soon!

candi factory

candance of candi factory surprised us this show by handing us a huge bag full of her amazing undies! she, as a mother of two (two!) is a busy lady and we were honoured to get them…come over and get yourself a pair, they are certainly back by popular demand!

eikcam

grace lee, the amazing ceramicist filling much of flock’s housewares section, also gave us a box of goodies – casserole dishes, vases and mugs with lovely and unusual prints…perfect for hosting this summer!

these are only a few of the fab items we brought back and had promised to us at the show – you’ll have to come in and see the rest for yourselves!

see you there!

more fun than the campaign trail!

gabes puppets

these fun finger puppets will have you laughing all the way to the polling station! each one is handmade by ottawa’s own gabe thirwall – hand silkscreened and sewn with enough room for your finger (tee hee) – now you can make your politicians do and say whatever you want!
