Hello world!

Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

2 Weeks left in our End-of-Season SALE!

for some reason, yesterday was super funny and busy day at both shops!  it was very unexpected because as all you o-towners know, it was a crazy weather day, full of freezing rain and requiring super careful footsteps (an elderly lady i walked by on the way home told me to be more careful when i wiped out at her feet), hmmm…

anyway, the ladies who were in the shops yesterday – no surprise – scored some amazing deals (like the red dress above, it’s gone!) since it’s officially the very end of the season and our sale is at its peak!  this is what prompted me to write a little log post: it’s my sticky note to each of you: you have a couple of weeks left to score end of season, made in canada goodies on sale!  hope to see you there…tread slowly!  (-:

Our Night Owl is Famous!

You may have seen our night owl before…you know: walking the red carpet, noshing on sushi at Nobu, hanging with pals Brad and Angelina…yes, our night owl is famous! (the one in the middle, the other two are his very cute hangers-on)

Thanks Ottawa Citizen, for including our night owl in your Marketplace: Cocooning from The Cold article last week!

Workshop

The Season of Markdowns

Keli has put her great collection 50% off!

Since winter has come so late this year, January may actually be the perfect time to shop for the season! I mean seriously – I’ve only just begun to wear my sweaters and sweater dresses, winter tunics and leggings…and now almost everything is on sale!

Pop by Workshop and Flock for the largest end of season sale we have ever had…most of our designers have marked down their collections and some of them have been really serious about it! The time to spend those gift certificates and all of that good christmas money is now…see you in the shop soon! (-;

Here are a few sneak peeks…follow us on facebook for more!

I'm obsessed with this skirt! Was $258, now $155, Christina bought it today!

We all love Mandy's collection and now it's on sale! Was $148, now $118...there are only a few left, so come in and take a look!

Tonight ~ Wellington West Shop Hop!

Tonight is going to be a seriously big, fun night on Wellington West! 28 businesses (that’s huge!) are participating in this year’s shop hop, so you’ll need to block off a couple of hours to do your holiday shopping right!

Join us for an evening of anti-mall, anti-big box!

Grab a couple of friends and wander down the street tasting samples from local restos, having goodies at others and, of course, popping by Flock to get something lovely and handmade for everyone on your list! Doesn’t that sounds like something that would even put the grinch in the holiday spirit?

At Flock, we love a great party, so tonight we will have goodies and raffles and best of all, 10% off everything in the shop!

As you may already know, our designers have been working hard to fill our shop with tons and tons of great gifts to put under your tree, so it’s easier that ever to buy local and buy handmade this holiday season!

Hope to see you there!

The Ladies of Flock

Lace Inspired Loveliness

as many of you know, i’m not much of an afternoon blogger.  i tend to get up early in the morning, go into the shop when it’s calm and quiet and wandering around looking at all of the pretty things.  i then usually find something that makes me smile, take a pic of it, and share it with all of you.

today though, my day got off to an early start, followed by much chaos (surrounding the impending de-stash which is getting crazier, better and more exciting by the minute) so i didn’t have a moment to stop, think and share.

then i ran into christina who excitedly showed me pics of a new collection of jewellery we just received! sheena hand casts her jewellery using bits of vintage lace. isn’t that lovely?  these pieces are so unique, i can’t wait to go into the shops and see them in person.  maybe i’ll see you there!

A Designer and Her Bike

Mandy, of Mandala Design, visiting Flock

Mandy, one of our lovely and talented new designers, decided to hop on her bike (not the kind of bike you may think) and head down to Ottawa to check out the sights and sounds of the Capital (and to browse through Workshop and Flock, obviously)! She blogged about her trip too!  Check it out here:

Thanks for the visit Mandy, it was lovely seeing you!

Guest Post: Feather Your Nest

Julie, the design blogger behind www.jubalife.com, talks about birds!

Birds seem to be everywhere these days – in both fashion and home décor. I’ve swooned over bird necklaces and earrings at Workshop and Flock, not to mention those adorable stuffed owls by Tracy Lam and Hilary Cosgrove.

Stuffed Owls by Hilary Cosgrove

My husband and I recently bought our first house after three years of condo living and my nesting instinct has kicked in – literally.  I have twice as much space as I used to and I’ve been looking to add some feathered creatures to the mix.

In the spirit of Flock, here are some of my favourite birds in home fashion…

Thomas Paul’s Maize print

Here’s another way to incorporate Thomas Paul’s flock:

steal the style!

Mags & Fags on Elgin Street used to carry three different cards with these motifs and I still regret not buying and framing them.

Bird clothes pins from www.bodieandfou.com

A very creative bride used them to hang her seating plan – love it!

Dwell Studio’s Peacock Citrine Duvet Set

Although based in NY, Dwell’s talented founder and creative director Christiane Lemieux is 100% Canadian.

Just lovely!

In case you can’t get enough peacock, Allem Studio makes a beautiful plumed pillow.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a little DIY, it doesn’t get much cuter than these bird cage lanterns.

Try some birdie DIY!

Perfect to brighten up a room!
