The sun is finally shining and Flock and Workshop are both packed with super cute summer fling dresses and great separates in all kinds of patio-perfect styles and colours!

That makes this weekend the time to pop by (while walking with an iced latte and chatting with an old friend) and see what our fabulous Canadian designers have been up to!

Personally, I have become Annie 50 obsessed this season – I’m not ashamed to admit that I have even bought the same dress in two different fabrics…when I love it, I really take it to the limit! (-:

Silk Screening Genius PEACH BERSERK is doing a TRUNK SHOW at FLOCK Feb 2nd 12-5!

Many of you may know Kingi’s iconic shop Peach Berserk in downtown Toronto!  I know that I have personally gawked at the amazing creative genius’s work and hit the changeroom in her shop!

So – it is with extra excitement that I announce that Kingi is coming to Ottawa!  She’s doing an impromptu TRUNK SHOW in the Flock Boutique gallery space on February 2nd from 12-5pm!

At the same time she will also be running one of her fabulous silk-screening workshops in our basement – spaces are limited, see info below for how to register.

On Saturday during the trunk show we will also be doing giveaways and other fun things, so make sure to mark it on your calendar and head down to Wellington West to check out the most amazing extreme silkscreened dresses and accessories on the planet!

Here’s what Kingi’s up to in her own words:

“We are packing up our most gorgeous new silk party dresses (hoodies, cotton dresses and silk skirts too) and taking them on the road!

Trunk Show details:

I will be showing new, crazy, colourful, printed party dresses!  My swatch books (with 150 of Peach Berserk’s prints!) will be on hand, so you can create with me a gorgeous, custom designed Peachy dress of your dreams (in your choice of style and silk colours)!

It is the perfect opportunity to order a special dress for an upcoming party, prom, graduation, wedding ……whatever event is special to you!  And, I will be bringing a selection of super cute printed hoodies, skirts, cotton dresses, silk scarves and more!

 

Screen Printing Workshop Details:

At the Trunk Show venue, we are teaching a silkscreen workshop!  REGISTER NOW FOR THE WORKSHOP (and email us your artwork by January 30th), and we will photoshop the artwork to make it silkscreenable, and shoot it on an individual screen!  (artwork can be photos, drawings, text, found images, or any combination -to fill a silkscreen space of 22”X17”)

We will bring your custom-made screen to the Trunk Show, where you can use our print-tables and paints to print your designs! All inks, fabric, a t-shirt, and our Silkscreen book/DVD are included.

Cost $89 (to keep the silkscreen frame with your images on it will be an additional $29)

Students in the workshop will learn:

How the screens are made

Different, interesting ways to create a silkscreen design

How to print t-shirts and fabric, one colour and multi colour prints.

How to source materials and set up an affordable studio at home (silkscreen studio set packages are available for purchase as well – ask us for details)!

28 Days of Giveaways!

We’ll be the first to admit that no matter how much we love this city, the dead of winter in Ottawa can feel rather bleak and uninspiring.

This winter, Christina and I are determined to keep up our creative spirit, snow or no snow – minus 10 or minus 40.  Are you with us? Cause we have a plan!

How about an entire month of great giveaways from your favourite Canadian designers? That’s sure to put a bit of a bounce in your step en route to the office right? Sure to make your lunch hour a bit more fun?

So, we asked our designers if any of them might be interested in giving something away and we got bombarded with emails back!  Our fab designers are all over it!

Here’s a sneak peek: We’ll be giving away a felted merino wool hat by Julie Sinden, a drape dress by Nude and pair of lovely sterling silver earrings by shop fave Jessie Turner…and that only covers 3 days of our big contest! (-:

The Great Crafting De-Stash Starts Today!

Workshop and Flock, Hitting the Streets!

Late last week, Yalitsa of Bleached Photography took our clothes out for an afternoon on the town!

The clothes had a great time (don’t they look like they are having fun?) especially because they were able to shoot the breeze with all of the great foot-friendly heels at Max’s Show Repair!  Now, that’s a match made in fashion! (-;

Calling all Crafters! Join our De-Stash!

Hello Everyone!

After the huge success of last year’s “Great Crafting De-Stash” we have decided to do it again…and with more time for our crafters to prepare this time around!

** What is a De-stash? **

A de-stash is when crafters go into their studios, basements, closets and other storage spaces and clear out crafting supplies that they don’t expect to use in the near future. Then, they sell them for super cheap to clear their crafting clutter (we all have it!) and make way for newer better supplies!  A good de-stash is like a great day at a craft-only value village (wish there was such a thing!) – and superb recycling!  Your old buttons may be just what another crafter is looking for! (-: **

THE GREAT CRAFTING DE-STASH will take place in the gallery space at Flock Boutique from November 3rd – 11th.  We are inviting about 30 of our designers/crafters to participate but we are also looking for other crafters ready and willing to part with their vast stashes, so please contact us at info@flockboutique.ca if you would like to participate!

We’ve inherited 175 lovely tea cups!

Very soon our gallery space is going to be filled to the top with teacups for sale!


One of our favourite designers has collected tea cups (along with fabric, buttons and pottery clay) her whole life!


She has recently decided to pair down her unbelievable collection of tea cups in the name of making space for her ever-growing studio (meaning more fabric, buttons and  pottery clay)…and we’ve decided to help her!


So, pretty soon (July 7th-15th) the gallery space at Flock Boutique (1275 Wellington St. W) will be the place to go for tea cups your grannie will salivate over (they will be $5, $10 & $15).

A huge thank you to the many of you who came though our doors as part of your Mother’s Day Weekend!  We have never seen so many generations of lovely ladies in our shop all at once!


We also wanted to thank Karine, our co-op student, for working so hard making the cute Mother’s Day buttons we handed out as well as Sarah from Petite Bakery who made our day magical by letting us hand out some of her crushingly wonderful cupcake masterpieces!  I know I speak for all of our customers when I say…yummm!


Karine sure is a genius with the button press!
